What families are saying about assisted living in Brentwood

Sherri
Facility is beautiful. Close to my home and very thankful for that. She had a caring on the go personality, and made some friends. Mom moved from living alone in a house to Traditions at age 90. A fall somewhat forced the move because of safety.Mom was in independent care for 1.5 years. Apt very nice, housekeeping below average and food below average. This appeared to be because admin could not keep good workers.Mom lived the last 6 months in dependent living, which was very disappointing. We experienced major concerns with trusting nursing staff and care givers. Getting meds correct was an ongoing issue & very concerning. I had to monitor and follow up daily. I think nurses were LPN & higher certificates. Some caregivers were caring and trustworthy, but some were very concerning. Communication, organization, and responsibilities were weak. Again, appeared to be admin issue.Caregivers had no required certificate training and were allowed to learn by shadowing. Most Nurses did not seem to stay with the company for long. In 6 months we saw several come and go. Housekeeping was weak, if at all. Admin seemed unable to keep housekeepers. We had to put in several request to get floor and bathroom cleaned. Food continued to be poor. The front desk receptionists were always exceptional and could have run the program. They helped the residents so much and with caring hearts. The bookkeeper had solid communication when I reached out. The activities director was caring and enjoyed the residents as they did her. They did have good activities for the tenants. The bus driver was caring and the maintenance guy was caring and worked hard. When my mom passed away, I informed the main admin. I never heard one word of condolences but apt was being painted before end of lease. Spoke volumes to me.What do you like most about living here? Rank Methodology - Assisted Living Magazine’s Awards for Brentwood Senior Homes

We score each senior living community using a weighted model that combines public review data, government inspection reports, licensing records, and other quality-of-care indicators.

Average Customer Satisfaction — 35%

Average ratings across major platforms (Google, Yelp, Facebook) combined with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and state-assisted living reports.

Service Rating Score — 25%

Ratio of high (4–5 star) to low (1–2 star) reviews across review sites and senior living–specific platforms, showing consistency of care quality.

Complaint Percentage — 25%

Proportion of formal complaints and deficiencies relative to total reviews and inspections. Lower complaint ratios indicate stronger compliance and resident satisfaction.

Business Hours & Availability — 10%

Communities with higher staff-to-resident ratios, extended service hours, and flexible visitation/care availability receive higher scores.

License Status — 5%

Verification that the community holds an active license with its state regulatory agency.

Total Score = Σ(weight × normalized metric).

Tie-breakers: Higher average satisfaction → higher service ratio → more reviews.

Data sources: CMS government data, state/local inspection reports, verified licensing boards, and major review platforms

Update cadence: Reviewed quarterly, with prompt updates when new reviews, reports, or complaints are filed

Frequently Asked Questions

What government services provide money for senior housing?

Several government programs offer financial assistance for senior housing in various countries, focusing on the United States for a broad overview:

  • Medicaid: Medicaid is a state and federally funded program that can cover the costs of nursing home care for those who meet eligibility criteria, including income and asset limits. Some states also offer Medicaid waivers that help pay for home and community-based services to prevent or delay nursing home placement.
  • Medicare: Medicare, primarily a health insurance program for people aged 65 and over, does not cover long-term housing costs. However, it can cover short-term stays in a skilled nursing facility under specific conditions following a hospital stay.
  • Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly Program: This program provides housing for low-income seniors. It offers rental assistance and access to supportive services, such as cleaning, cooking, and transportation.
  • Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) Properties: While not a direct subsidy, LIHTC encourages developers to create affordable housing. Seniors with low incomes can find reduced-rent apartments through this program.
  • State and Local Programs: Many states, counties, and cities offer their own programs to assist seniors with housing costs. These can include property tax relief programs, rental assistance programs, and programs that offer affordable senior housing options.
  • Veterans Affairs (VA): The VA offers several programs for veterans, including the Aid and Attendance benefit, which provides monthly payments to veterans who require the aid of another person, or are housebound, to help cover the cost of care in homes, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
  • Social Security: While Social Security primarily provides retirement income, for many seniors, these benefits are a crucial part of their budget, including housing costs.
How do you pick the homes you recommend?

Before recommending homes, we conduct a thorough evaluation on crucial factors that define a senior home such as the quality of care they provide, the reputation of the organization, and a comprehensive review of community testimonials as well. Every detail is assessed to assure that seniors are offered not just senior care options, but trustworthy homes where they can experience the care that they deserve.

Do you help families that need Medicaid?

Yes. Assisting families who need Medicaid is important to us as it plays a crucial role in offering financial support to seniors confronting economic challenges. We would like to keep essential healthcare services accessible to all community members, irrespective of one’s financial circumstances.
