The inspection was conducted as a complaint investigation (Complaint #NJ00145964) to determine compliance with New Jersey Administrative Code 8:36 standards for licensure of assisted living residences, focusing on resident safety and policy enforcement regarding unsafe behaviors.
Findings
The facility failed to implement its policy and procedures to ensure supervision of residents identified with unsafe behaviors related to smoking. Two residents (Resident #1 and Resident #3) were found non-compliant with the facility's smoking policy, with evidence of smoking materials and unsafe behaviors in their rooms. The facility did not update care plans to address these behaviors or provide adequate supervision, placing residents at risk of injury or harm. The facility provided and successfully implemented a removal plan to address these deficiencies.
