Surveyors conducted a complaint investigation at Franciscan Courts, a Residential Care Apartment Complex, based on a complaint alleging a tenant had been out of neurologically stabilizing medication since approximately 08/29/2025.
Complaint Details
Complaint substantiated. Tenant 1 was out of tetrabenazine since 08/29/2025 due to insurance coverage issues and delays in prior authorization. Facility staff were unaware medication was out and failed to ensure timely refill and administration. The facility agreed to cover medication costs temporarily while obtaining necessary approvals.
Findings
One deficiency was identified where Tenant 1 did not receive prescribed tetrabenazine medication for approximately one month, and medication administration was not accurately documented. The facility failed to ensure nursing services including medication administration and management were provided as required.
