Visit Reason
The Bureau of Assisted Living conducted a complaint investigation at Heritage Lake Country following a report that medications were found in a caregiver's possession outside of work duties by Police.

Complaint Details
The complaint was substantiated. On 04/27/2023, a complaint was received that medications were found in a caregiver's possession outside of work duties by Police. Caregiver B was arrested with a syringe of morphine labeled with Resident 1's name. The facility was contacted on 04/23/2023 but did not investigate. Resident 1 passed away on 04/20/2023. The caregiver was still employed and passing medications at the time of the survey.
Findings
The investigation found that the facility did not conduct an investigation into possible caregiver misappropriation of Resident 1's morphine, despite the caregiver being arrested with a syringe labeled with Resident 1's name. The complaint was substantiated with one violation issued.
