Inspection Report Summary for Poway Gardens Senior Living
Poway Gardens Senior Living – Oaks, a 6‑bed community care facility located at 12742 Monte Vista Road, has consistently demonstrated compliance with California’s health and safety regulations across three consecutive licensing visits. The August 31, 2023 visit was a Component II training review in which Administrator Donnelle Williams and Sherryly Anding verified their understanding of licensing laws, completed the LIC 809 form, and confirmed that staff records and operational policies were current. No deficiencies were cited, and the facility’s preparation for licensure was noted as satisfactory.
In April 2024 a pre‑licensing Component III inspection by Licensing Program Analyst Debbie Correia confirmed that the physical plant met Title 22 requirements. The evaluator observed fully equipped resident rooms, proper medical storage, adequate fire and emergency equipment, and a compliant food service system. The facility’s certification was current until June 2024, and staff training records were up to date. The inspection found no safety or operational concerns, and the facility was deemed ready for licensure pending final review.
The most recent unannounced required annual inspection on May 20, 2025, conducted by Licensing Program Analyst Marisela Garcia‑Centeno, again found the facility in good repair and fully compliant. All resident rooms, communal areas, and safety systems—including fire alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and first‑aid kits—were functional. Employee background checks and training records were current, and the facility maintained adequate perishable and non‑perishable food supplies. No hazardous substances or weapons were present, and all medication storage complied with regulations. The evaluator noted that emergency drills were performed as required, with the most recent drill in April 2025. No deficiencies or civil penalty notifications were issued.
Across all three reports, a pattern emerges of meticulous adherence to licensing standards, effective staff training, and robust safety protocols. The facility’s small capacity allows for focused oversight, and management has demonstrated a consistent commitment to maintaining regulatory compliance and providing a safe environment for residents.
