Inspection Report Summary for Sunlit Gardens
The California Department of Social Services’ Community Care Licensing Division evaluated Sunlit Gardens Assisted Living (Facility No. 365530159) on several occasions between early 2024 and mid‑2025. The initial visit on January 30, 2024 was a COMP II competency interview with Administrator Scarlett Augafa and applicants, confirming that the leadership understood licensing laws and key operational requirements. Two weeks later, a Pre‑Licensing visit on March 1, 2024 verified that the facility met all Code of Regulations requirements and was ready for licensure; a COMP III orientation was also conducted, and the facility’s new license was pending at that time.
In February 2025, a case‑management visit focused on fire safety approvals for bedridden residents. The licensing analyst, Paola Guerrero, noted that Buildings B and C had received delayed‑egress clearance from the Rancho Cucamonga County Fire Department, allowing 24 bedridden residents to remain in those units. The analyst updated the file and issued a new license reflecting these changes while noting that the facility’s overall capacity would remain at 172 residents.
The most recent inspection, conducted on May 13, 2025, was an unannounced annual review. Licensing Program Analyst LaVette Farlow conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the physical plant, resident rooms, safety equipment, and administrative controls. The report highlighted that all four buildings—A, B, C, and D—were properly maintained, temperature‑controlled, and equipped with functioning smoke detectors, carbon‑monoxide alarms, and properly posted resident‑rights and disaster‑plan materials. Staff coverage was adequate, food supplies sufficient, and medication storage secure. No deficiencies were identified, and the facility was deemed compliant with all applicable regulations.
Across these visits, a consistent pattern emerges: Sunlit Gardens has maintained regulatory compliance, adapted its capacity and fire‑safety provisions as required, and continues to provide a safe, well‑managed environment for its residents. The reports demonstrate the facility’s responsiveness to licensing changes and its ongoing adherence to health and safety standards.
