A separate visit on 08/19/2021 addressed an allegation that food services were inadequate. Evaluators Nina Galarza and Nune Margaryan interviewed staff and eleven residents, reviewed the kitchen and food supplies, and confirmed that all residents received three meals daily with appropriate options and portions. The staff reported that additional food could be requested and that the kitchen maintained sufficient perishable and non‑perishable supplies. Residents’ statements uniformly indicated that the food service was adequate. Consequently, the allegation was deemed unsubstantiated, and no deficiencies were cited.
The pattern across both visits highlights recurring issues with resident information and emergency response procedures, while other concerns, such as food service and facility maintenance, did not meet the evidence threshold. Grove at Cerritos was required to submit plan‑of‑correction documents addressing the substantiated deficiencies, with specific deadlines and potential civil penalties for non‑compliance. The reports underscore the importance of consistent documentation, staff training, and transparent communication with residents to maintain compliance with California’s health and safety standards.
