Brookdale Richland Hills

We REALLY wanted to love Brookdale Richland Hills, we tried hard to focus on the good that was presented to us during our presentation of the facility by the director, Blake, the sales job given by, James, and the warm, involved, professional attitude of the nurse, Madison. However, about 6 weeks in, we realized the honeymoon was over and real life at Brookdale took over! From screwing up our monthly bills, to the point that it made me wonder if anyone was even in charge, to them refusing to provide services such as escorting mom to and from all activities and meals, which we paid for, to not feeding her on numerous occasions, which one time would have been too many, to being short staffed every single shift, not following the posted menu, not keeping the dining area clean, not providing activities on any consistent basis and when they did the “activities” consisted of reading history, telling dumb jokes, or simply not following through with activities that were posted! Beyond the previous mentioned, the staff complained constantly, and many worked double and triple shifts due to lack of staff, the nurse became less and less professional when it came to her communication with our family and her awareness of mom’s needs didn’t seem to be of any importance to her unless me or my sister brought a concern to her, the director ran around like a chicken with his head cut off, but no one was ever really sure what he was doing! And, while, Blake, the director, appeared to be a nice young man, he either didn’t know how to get a grip on his staff, he didn’t care to get a grip, the extremely unprofessional nurse ran the show or Brookdale’s business structure was set up in such a way that the director has a title but little to no control over much of anything. Personally, I believe it’s all of the above. It wasn’t just management that was unprofessional but I’ll add that it starts at the top and trickles down! We left after 7 long months. Answer: Seemed so Would you recommend this community to others looking for senior living options? Answer: No! Is there anything you wish you knew before moving in? Answer: Just wish it had been as they presented it to be! But it was just a sales job to fill a room
