The Bureau of Assisted Living, Southern Regional Office conducted a complaint investigation at Heritage Lake Country, a CBRF located in Hartland, WI, based on a complaint received regarding possible caregiver misappropriation of Resident 1's medication.
Complaint Details
The complaint was substantiated. Caregiver B was found in possession of a syringe of morphine labeled with Resident 1's name. The facility was informed by police on 04/23/2023, but no investigation was conducted by the provider. Caregiver B remained employed and passed medications as part of duties.
Findings
The investigation found that the provider did not conduct an investigation into the possible misappropriation of morphine by Caregiver B, who was arrested with a syringe of morphine labeled with Resident 1's name. The complaint was substantiated with one violation of Chapter DHS 83 issued.
