Visit Reason
The inspection was conducted due to observed violations related to fire and life safety code regulations at Arbor Terrace of Knoxville Assisted Care Living Facility.
Findings
The surveyor observed use of a prohibited space heater in a resident's room and found the facility failed to conduct required fire drills for multiple shifts and quarters, including during sleeping hours. These deficiencies were admitted by the Executive Director during the exit conference.

Tenn. Comp. R. and Reg. 0720-26-.10(2)(h) prohibits open flame and portable space heaters. A space heater was observed being used in a resident's room.
Tenn. Comp. R. and Reg. 0720-26-.10(3)(a) requires fire drills for each ACLF work shift quarterly. Facility records showed no fire drills for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts in the 4th quarter 2022 and no drills for 1st and 3rd shifts in 1st quarter 2023.
Tenn. Comp. R. and Reg. 0720-26-.10(3)(b) requires one fire drill per quarter during sleeping hours. Facility did not conduct fire drills during sleeping hours for 2nd and 4th quarters 2022 and 1st and 2nd quarters 2023.
