Tucked into the Rancho Oakey neighborhood on West Charleston Boulevard, Lumina Las Vegas is a single-story memory care community built specifically for residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. It holds 57 beds and has been open for four years now, currently running at 81 percent occupancy, meaning 46 of those beds are filled.

Staffing runs around the clock here, with nursing services and 24-hour supervision. Each resident gets a care plan built around their own needs, and meals come out of the community’s own kitchen. The outdoor spaces are secured, so residents can move around safely without staff needing to hover over every step.

Nicole Graham runs the place as Executive Director, and beyond the core care setup, residents get access to transportation services and some fitness and recreation options too. Downtown Las Vegas is about 3.3 miles out, and University Medical Center sits just over half a mile away, which is a genuinely short distance if a resident ever needs hospital-level care fast. The neighborhood itself scores a 56 on walkability, moderately walkable, enough that a family member visiting could handle a quick errand nearby without much hassle.

Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services inspects the facility regularly, and its reviews touch on the areas you’d expect for a memory care community: infection control, fire safety, staff training and credentials, food service, resident rights, and general upkeep.

Between the secured outdoor access, the round-the-clock staffing, and its position minutes from a major hospital, Lumina Las Vegas reads as a community built with the practical realities of memory care specifically in mind.
