In Washington, the Department of Social and Health Services, Residential Care Services conducts unannounced inspections and issues reports on the quality of care in all licensed settings.
Washington average: 8 complaint visits
Washington average: 9 inspections
The most recent inspection report from August 11, 2025, found no deficiencies at Briarwood at Timber Ridge, indicating the facility met licensing requirements at that time. However, the June 18, 2025, report identified several deficiencies related primarily to resident care and documentation, including failures to update service plans for residents using bed rails and supplemental oxygen, incomplete medication monitoring, and missing staff training and background checks. The facility also failed to ensure tuberculosis screening for some staff and did not maintain proper documentation for specialty training and fingerprint background checks, placing residents at risk. Earlier reports from January and February 2024 showed additional issues, such as incomplete Medicaid acceptance policies, inadequate video monitoring, unsafe water temperatures, unsecured hazardous supplies, and pet vaccination record deficiencies. The trend shows improvement over time, with the most recent inspection free of deficiencies after prior reports documented multiple issues involving resident care, staff compliance, and safety protocols.
Fire safety inspections revealed a disapproved status in December 2022 due to fire alarm system deficiencies and missing generator inspection records, but a follow-up inspection in February 2023 confirmed all prior violations were corrected. Subsequent fire safety inspections in early 2025 noted issues with portable fire extinguishers, fire-rated construction documentation, and storage of hazardous supplies, with some violations corrected by March 2025.
