Overview of Brookdale the Heights

Brookdale the Heights is a senior living community in Houston, TX, offering assisted living and memory care. Managed by Arc Pinegate LP under the established Brookdale brand, this community maintains a Type A license in Harris County with 110 licensed beds. Due to its significant size, the destination offers a deep infrastructure of programming and professional services for those requiring a structured daily routine.

As a Type A licensed community, the community is designed for residents who generally maintain a level of physical independence and can follow emergency directions. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission oversees its operations and, during a July 2022 review, noted two health-related items concerning pest management, which were settled by September of the same year. Earlier findings from 2020 involved technical safety updates, such as fire drill logs and sprinkler upkeep, all of which were addressed years ago. While the total citation count sits above the state’s average, the health-specific marks remain in line with Texas averages, and no formal enforcement penalties have been recorded against the community.

Security and physical assistance are central to the daily operations, featuring 24-hour staffing and specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts and grab bars. Secured perimeters and keypad access are also available for those in the memory care wing. Beyond long-term stays, older adults can access short-term rehabilitation and respite care. On-site features also include a greenhouse, library, game room, and beauty shop. A wellness curriculum includes gardening in the courtyard or participating in the Clare Bridge® cognitive engagement program, specifically designed for dementia support. Assisted living starts at roughly $4,120 monthly, while the highly specialized memory care wing is priced near $9,850, reflecting the increased staffing and security required. This rate includes three daily meals, snacks, utilities, and full housekeeping services.

Brookdale the Heights is an appealing choice for families seeking a large-scale, resource-rich environment that can manage both standard assisted living and more intensive cognitive care needs within a single campus.

  • BROOKDALE THE HEIGHTS underwent a comprehensive inspection on July 26, 2022, resulting in 9 total violations. The Health Code deficiencies consisted of two issues related to pest control, specifically the lack of an ongoing and effective program and inadequate insect screens on operable windows. These problems were corrected by September 16, 2022. The Life Safety Code deficiencies, which occurred during a previous inspection on February 13, 2020, included several fire safety-related concerns. The facility failed to ensure compliance with the Life Safety Code, conduct regular fire drills and documentation, inspect and maintain the sprinkler system, and keep the building free of hazards. Additionally, there were issues with building maintenance, including inadequate repairs and improper use of heating devices. These problems were largely corrected by March 2020. No enforcement actions were found in relation to these inspections or deficiencies.
