Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living Reviews

Paula Brooks
I have been here over three months now and I can tell you I stay in my room mostly and try and fix my own meals as they are extremely sparse overly salted high in carbs. I regret moving here. These places are now purchased for profit only not for the elderly care. They are understaffed. Do not provide nourishing meals and do not protect the residence from overly abusive verbal attacks as well as assaults. I’ve called elder abuse. but nothing ever gets done. The staff is great or at least a few of them. As there is a great amount of turnover here. The cook is leaving today for a better place I don’t blame him. There’s very little for people to do here but watch TV if they have one they claim snacks are provided, but every time I have gone out there, there is very little if anything a few cheese chunks but because of the sparse meals when there is some, it is emptied quickly and is never refilled. When I moved here to a place that provides three meals a day my food stamps were cancelled. It doesn’t matter that most of the food is inedible as seen by several of the plates in the dining room that people have left.

Rating Their Experiences

What do you like most about living here?

What I like about living here is the rooms are sufficient as I have to protect myself from a few aggressive and physical residence that are allowed to continue their bulling

Are there enough caregivers to handle the residents' needs, especially during emergencies?

No

Are the common areas pleasant and comfortable for socializing or relaxing?

No

How do you feel about the level of social interaction available with other residents?

The arts and crafts have a minimal budget. The entertainment is sparse. Maybe someone comes in and plays the guitar once a month or twice if we’re lucky. There is considerable verbal and physical abuse going on that I’ve reported to ADULT Protection services and yet it still continues. The meals are extremely poor, mostly carbs overly salted and processed foods.

How was the units offered in this community?

The rooms are fine in size small kitchenette, bathroom handicap shower nice view from the window, but that’s all I have good to say about this place. I don’t feel safe when I push my call button. It takes nearly 45 minutes for someone to answer it the quickest I’ve ever had anyone come with 35 minutes

Do you feel safe living in this community?

No

How well do you think the community handles emergencies or unexpected events?

Management likes to shove everything under the rug. I’ve called Have been verbally and physically attacked and nothing has been done. I’m forced to stay in my room and watch TV or crochet as the only thing going is activities that with Megan‘s low budget consider crafts bingo on Wednesday has been aggressive by a certain residence and yet they still let him continue Although he has been witnessed doing this on many many occasions

How would you rate the quality and variety of the meals? (1-5)

1

Are special diets handled well?

No

Is the dining schedule flexible enough to meet your preferences?

Yes

Are there any hidden fees or unexpected charges?

No hidden fees or unexpected charges

Would you recommend this community to others looking for senior living options?

I would not recommend this place to anybody entertainment is sparse. The food is overly processed. Highly salted 85% carbohydrates and extremely small amount. Alternatives consist of a baked potato. Nothing else a quesadilla nothing else or a sandwich of peanut butter, ham or cheese and nothing else if you have food stamps beforehand, you will no longer have them here Because they serve three meals which I cannot eat most of it because of high carb high salt.

Is there anything you wish you knew before moving in?

I wish I knew how these places really treat their residence. It’s not the staff that helped the residence. It’s that the verbal and aggressive residences are allowed to continue to prey in my opinion, they belong in the memory care unit so the rest of us are safe
