Overview of Mountain Villa at Kerrville

Mountain Villa at Kerrville is a family-owned assisted living and memory care community in Kerrville, Texas. This 50-bed community also offers a balance between personalized support and an active residential atmosphere. Serving older adults in Kerr County since 1994, its established presence in the area has built its reputation for compassionate care, relationship-centered service, and a community-focused approach to assisted living.

Operating under Maharlika Resources Inc., the community is licensed as a Type B assisted living provider. Its moderate size also allows staff to build meaningful relationships with residents while still supporting organized activities, shared amenities, and social engagement opportunities. Many families are drawn to communities of this scale because they often provide a more personal environment than larger corporate-operated settings while still maintaining professional staffing and structured programming. Furthermore, one of its defining characteristics throughout the community’s history is its family ownership, which reflects stability, local investment, and an enduring commitment to serving older adults in the region. This type of ownership structure also appeals to families because it can support greater consistency in leadership and a more individualized approach to resident care.

The community is regulated and licensed through the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, which conducts routine inspections and oversight for assisted living operations. As with all licensed assisted living communities in Texas, ongoing compliance reviews help monitor care standards, resident safety, and operational practices. On April 24, 2024, the community completed its most recent comprehensive inspection, which resulted in three violations. These mainly centers documentation gap, in terms of fire marshal inspection and required fire drills. However, these were corrected in the following months. Notably, an enforcement action was taken on October 7, 2024, with a fee of $2,250 for failing to ensure an environment free of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Specialized support for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia is provided through its Alzheimer’s certification program. Staff members also receive training in cognitive care strategies, behavioral support, and evidence-based memory care practices designed to promote safety, familiarity, and emotional well-being. This specialized focus helps address the evolving needs of older adults experiencing memory impairment while supporting dignity and quality of life.

The smaller-scale setting helps foster familiarity among residents and staff, contributing to a close-knit atmosphere that many families appreciate, along with recreational activities, social gatherings, and daily engagement opportunities. Since the community remains family-owned and operated, decision-making and care practices are often shaped by long-term relationships, continuity of service, and responsiveness to resident needs.

As an established local provider with decades of experience, Mountain Villa at Kerrville is especially well-suited for older adults who need assisted living support or specialized memory care within a moderately sized, relationship-focused environment, particularly those who value personalized attention and dementia care expertise.
