St. Rita Square

St. Rita Square sits in Milwaukee’s Lower East Side, at 728 East Pleasant Street, and covers a wider range of care than a lot of communities do in one building. Independent living, assisted living, and memory care all live under the same roof here, and the population reflects that: residents range from advanced-aged folks who just want support with daily life to people managing physical disabilities or dementia.

The building itself is a 22-unit mid-rise, with one- and two-bedroom layouts running from 744 to 1,487 square feet. Right now, about half the units are filled, ten out of twenty-two. Rent runs month-to-month, so there’s no big endowment fee sitting between a family and a decision. Monthly rates land somewhere between $5,260 and $12,785, depending on the unit and level of care needed.

On the amenity side, there’s a spa, a salon, a fitness studio, and an outdoor piazza, plus a wood-fired pizza trattoria and restaurant-style dining that goes a step past the usual cafeteria setup. Scheduled transportation and clean air systems round things out. Pets are welcome too, so that’s not a tradeoff residents have to make.

A Walk Score of 94 puts the neighborhood in the “Walker’s Paradise” range, meaning groceries, errands, and day-to-day stops are mostly doable on foot, with downtown Milwaukee less than a mile away.

Chiara Housing and Services Inc is the legal operator, Glenwood Choban administers the community, and Samantha Jemison holds a leadership role on-site. This is a newer property, still building its track record, but what it offers right now is a full spectrum of care, real dining, and a location most people would call genuinely walkable.
