Over 32 acres of friendly and beautiful environment, Altenheim is definitely a nurturing community for families. They offer an array of services as an independent living facility with assisted living and memory care options. They follow a philosophy called Family-first, which dates way back to 1977 when CarDon & Associates was first established. This community group now extends throughout south-central Indiana and has involved all members to prioritize each resident’s personal care. They ensure that residents are able to feel a sense of comfort and joy with their time at the community, as well as opportunities to socialize, enjoy, and learn– considering that it’s a community with a stimulating environment.
Altenheim promotes an oasis-kind of escape found in their own community. The community has a list of services that puts the well-being of residents first– personalized care plan with assessment and development; 24-hour nursing services available everyday; social, cultural, and educational activities and programs. Community amenities and features include emergency response system, paved walking paths, chapel with organ, scheduled transportation, weekly housekeeping and linen services, laundry services, and restaurant-style dining rooms– to name a few of the services they offer to make the lives of each resident hassle-free.
Marquette Senior Living has been running in Indianapolis for 47 years now, and it’s not just one type of care, it spans independent living, assisted living, memory care, and long-term nursing all on the same campus. It’s a mid-rise, 134-bed. Walk Score comes in at 22, car-dependent; this is a neighborhood where you’re driving for pretty much everything.
Occupancy sits at 93% right now, 124 of the 134 beds filled, and the average stay runs about 97 days. Rehabilitation services and respite care are both available, backed by staffing that runs around the clock. Here’s the number that actually matters for comparison purposes: total nursing care comes out to 4 hours and 41 minutes per resident, per day. On-site healthcare runs through the Lynne O’Day Clinic, so residents aren’t leaving campus for basic medical support.
Physically, there’s a fitness center, courtyards, landscaped gardens, and a handful of dining options. The aquatic center alone is 14,000 square feet, which is a genuinely sizable amenity for a senior living campus, and the Marquette Athletic Center adds another dedicated fitness space on top of that.
On oversight: inspections here have tended to center on medication management, fire safety systems, emergency preparedness, environmental safety, and care planning documentation. Those are the standard areas regulators look at across nursing homes, not unique to this one.
Medicare and private pay are both accepted. What Marquette adds up to is a genuine continuum-of-care campus with nearly five decades behind it, high occupancy, and nursing hours that hold up well, the kind of place built for a family that wants room to move between care levels without starting over somewhere new each time.

The community opened in the past year and operates as a 110-bed facility currently at around 70 percent occupancy, with 77 residents. It takes Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay, giving families flexible coverage options.
The setting serves residents for extended stays, averaging a stay length of 411 days, indicating a population staying long-term instead of short-term recovery. The facility offers respite care and maintains 24-hour staffing to bolster residents’ daily needs. The neighborhood scores 61 out of 100 for walkability. This means some errands can be done on foot in the surrounding area, but most trips necessitate a car. For family visits and nearby appointments, this moderately walkable location provides reasonable access.
State inspections have pointed to numerous operational areas for attention, including food service sanitation, pest management, and fire and electrical safety systems. A recent compliance assessment learned the facility met regulations when evaluated on allegations. Families should ask regarding the facility’s ways of addressing these areas and how it upholds its standards every day.

It accommodates Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay. Stays average 148 days, which reflects a population focused primarily on short-term rehabilitation alongside long-term nursing care.

The facility spans four levels of care: nursing home, assisted living, independent living, and memory care, making it one of the broader care-continuum options in the area. The neighborhood itself is car-dependent with a Walk Score of 16, so residents and visiting families should plan accordingly.
Occupancy sits at 66%, with 198 of 299 beds filled. The average length of stay is 136 days, which puts the facility at the intersection of post-acute recovery and longer-term residential living. It’s the kind of community where short-stay rehabilitation residents share a building with people who’ve been there for years.
Nursing care totals 3 hours and 44 minutes per resident per day: 1 hour 47 minutes from nurse aides, 28 minutes each from LPN/LVNs and RNs. Executive Director Ruth Fuchs, Medical Director David Tetrick, and Director of Nursing Farah Thomas lead the facility’s clinical and operational teams.
The dining program is a genuine differentiator. Restaurant-style meals with chef-inspired cuisine, a Starbucks Café, a Bistro, and structured accommodations for special dietary needs add up to more than most nursing home profiles show. The Culinary Offerings program and Life Enrichment program give formal shape to the food and activities sides of daily life. Fitness and wellness centers and landscaped walking trails round out the amenities.
State inspections have historically focused on medication management, infection prevention and control, care planning and documentation, and fall and injury prevention. The facility accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay. At 299 beds with a hospital operator, a full care continuum, and an amenity package that leans noticeably upmarket, Westminster Village North is positioned for residents who want institutional depth alongside lifestyle-oriented services.

Two complaints were substantiated: one involving food storage practices, one for failure to immediately report a physical abuse allegation. No fines or enforcement actions appear in the record. The facility’s occupancy rate is 82%, 18 points above the Indiana average, suggesting consistent local demand. Amenities include semi-private suites, a spacious courtyard and patio, fine dining options, and family lounges. Discharge concierge services support transitions out of the facility. Start by matching the level of care offered to the resident's current and anticipated needs, then compare licensing status, staff-to-resident ratios, recent inspection results, and pricing. Tour at least two or three communities in Indianapolis, IN, talk to current residents and families, and confirm what is included in the base rate versus billed as add-on services.
What should I look for when visiting nursing homes in Indianapolis, IN?
