Judson Park

23600 Marine View Dr S, Des Moines, WA 98198
Overview of Judson Park

Located in Des Moines, Washington, Judson Park is a continuing care retirement community that provides independent living, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation services. Operated by Humangood Washington, the community has been serving older adults for more than three decades. Medicare, Medicaid, and private-pay options are also accepted, while a resident council helps give residents a voice in community matters.

With a 52-bed capacity, the community offers one-bedroom and two-bedroom residences. Average stays are about 71 days, reflecting a mix of rehabilitation and nursing care needs. Moreover, residents receive more than four hours of nursing support per day on average, with registered nurses providing a significant portion of that care. A multidisciplinary team that includes a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialists, a dietitian, dental professionals, social workers, and therapy providers also provides clinical support.

Restaurant-style dining with views of the Olympic Mountains are provided, along with access to a fitness center, library, woodworking shop, and landscaped grounds. Banking and postal services are also available on-site for added convenience.

Regulatory reviews have included a full compliance inspection with no deficiencies cited. Additionally, earlier inspections addressing medication management and life-safety documentation were corrected afterwards. Its overall inspection history also reflects a limited number of documented concerns.

Timber Ridge

100 Timber Ridge Way Nw, Issaquah, WA 98027
Overview of Timber Ridge

Timber Ridge has been around Issaquah’s Talus neighborhood for 19 years, running 26 beds in what amounts to a genuinely car-dependent pocket. The Walk Score sits at 19, which means if you’re planning to visit regularly or need anything within walking distance, you’ll need to drive. It’s not a criticism exactly, just a reality check for anyone factoring in location.

Right now, they’re at 88% occupancy with 23 residents. The average stay clocks in at 520 days, which tells you they’re managing a mix of people coming through for short stretches and others settling in longer. They take Medicare and private pay, so the funding question doesn’t automatically narrow your options the way it does at some places.

What’s interesting about the staffing: they’re putting five hours and 39 minutes of nursing care per resident per day, plus another three hours and 59 minutes from nursing aides. That’s real hands-on commitment, not the skeleton-crew scenario you see elsewhere. It actually matters when you’re thinking through whether someone’s going to get the attention they need.

The inspection history over the past four years reads as genuinely responsive. They’ve worked through deficiencies flagged on earlier rounds, things like policy transparency, privacy safeguards, water temperature, ventilation standards, housekeeping rigor, and how they handle pets. A fire safety inspection caught them with issues around extinguishers and extension cords, both of which they’ve since fixed. The pattern here suggests they take regulatory notes seriously instead of treating them like theater.

If you’re working through smaller communities that have actually been around for a while, and you can make peace with the car situation, Timber Ridge seems worth the site visit.

Overview of Regency at Northpointe

Set along the Spokane River and about 6.2 miles from the city center, Regency at Northpointe is a nursing home offering respite care in the Shiloh Hills area of Spokane, Washington. Owned by Tod Dunfield, it accepts Medicare, Medicaid, and private pay, giving families several ways to cover short-term rehabilitation and longer-term stays. The 120-bed community typically runs around 74 percent occupancy. Its average stay is about 84 days, pointing to a mix of residents recuperating from a hospital stay or surgery and those settling in for active nursing care.

Services span skilled nursing, rehabilitation therapy, long-term care, and respite stays, so the home is built to support occupants at different points in their recovery or care journey. Daily nursing support is a central part of life at Regency at Northpointe. Total nursing care averages about 3 hours 50 minutes per resident day, combining registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, and nurse aide time. That comprises dedicated RN hours, which often denote closer clinical oversight and a quicker response when a resident’s condition changes. Occupants live in private or semi-private suites and share a main living room, with landscaped grounds around the building. Regency at Northpointe also has a regular activities calendar, including group outings and creative classes, and keeps a full-service salon and barbershop on site so residents can get a haircut or styling without leaving the building. The surrounding neighborhood scores 37 for walkability, meaning it’s somewhat walkable: a few nearby errands can be done on foot, with most trips requiring a car.

Families exploring a nursing home for a loved one may want to inquire about current room availability, considering that private and semi-private suites here can fill at different rates.

Frequently Asked Questions about Nursing Homes in Washington

What's the difference between assisted living and a nursing home in Washington?

Assisted living in Washington is a residential model focused on housing, hospitality, and help with daily activities. Nursing homes (skilled nursing facilities) provide 24/7 medical care from licensed nurses for residents with significant health needs, and are regulated more strictly under both state and federal CMS rules.

Does Washington Medicaid cover nursing home care?

Yes — Washington Medicaid covers nursing home care for residents who meet income, asset, and medical-need eligibility requirements. Most CMS-certified nursing homes accept Medicaid as a primary payer once long-term-care eligibility is established.

What is nursing home care?

Nursing homes (also called skilled nursing facilities) provide 24/7 medical care from licensed nurses, rehabilitation services, and long-term custodial care for residents with significant health or functional needs.

How many nursing homes are listed on this page?

This page features 78 nursing homes in Washington. Use the filters and comparison tools above to compare ratings, amenities, and pricing.

How do I choose the right nursing home in Washington?

Start by matching the level of care offered to the resident's current and anticipated needs, then compare licensing status, staff-to-resident ratios, recent inspection results, and pricing. Tour at least two or three communities in Washington, talk to current residents and families, and confirm what is included in the base rate versus billed as add-on services.

What should I look for when visiting nursing homes in Washington?

Pay attention to staff interactions with residents, cleanliness and odor, food quality at meal times, the activity calendar, and how questions about pricing and care plans are answered. Ask to see the most recent state inspection report, the move-out / level-of-care-change policy, and a sample monthly bill that lists every fee.
