Solvang Friendship House provides assisted living, adult day care, memory care, and respite care in Solvang, CA. In assisted living, residents receive help with daily tasks while living in a cottage unit. Memory care provides supervision in a secured setting for someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Adult day care covers care during the day, while respite care offers a short stay when a usual caregiver needs time away, travel, or recovery.
The community has 40 beds, creating a smaller setting for someone who prefers a more intimate community. Assisted living and memory care are available in the same community, which can suit a resident whose care needs may increase over time and who may need access to different care levels without changing communities. Solvang Friendship House opened in 1987 and is administered by Tammy Westwood.
Residents live in cottage style homes and can spend time in landscaped gardens with walking paths and sitting areas. A beauty salon and barber shop are available on site for grooming, and family style meals can be adjusted through special diet plans to address individual dietary needs. Programs include the Eden Alternative, Our Care Neighborhood, Alzheimer’s and dementia support, and events. Nurse oversight adds clinical attention to the wellness program. The specialized memory care services may be a good fit for someone who needs supervision in a setting designed for Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
